Love for animals and irony: in show there are ‘aristocans’
          
The San Bernardo dresses as a Judge and the Dogan Argentine those of a nineteenth-century gentleman, while the labrador turns into a Countess and yorkshire in a sophisticated damina: the Aristocans are the protagonists of the works of Milanese artist Daniela Ria, exposed to March 6 at the Le 3 Melarance restaurant in via Orti, Milan, within the exhibition ‘Pets & Love’. The painter, who has portrayed four-legged friends of many personalities, beginning with the dog of former American President George W. Bush, ranges from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, from the eighteenth century to the Victorian era, in a continuous swing between realistic interpretation and imagination. Vintage portraits, here are the “aristocrats”
          
Among others, Mike Bongiorno, Adriana Asti and Barbara Bouchet, see their kitten or puppy, finally dressed in “his own”, with nineteenth-century lilies, eighteenth-century cloaks, precious gorgone Vittoriano model. The idea and the fashion were launched by Daniela Ria, a lady of Milan, a passionate animal painter, three years ago, during an exhibition at the “The Scene Servant” antiquarian library. Before making these portraits, Daniela Ria made trompe-l’oeil, such as fake marbles, fake frescoes, or figurative paintings to represent landscapes, for example. Her daughter Ilenia, on the other hand, chose to study Psychology, more interested in the portrait of the soul, of course. At Mrs. Ria’s house there are two kittens, Minu and Cipria. Among his clients there are no animal groups, never one of them has complained to her: “I portray dogs and cats in a humorous and friendly way, without ever ridiculing them. So far the lady has made two hundred and three hundred of these aristocrat-portraits.

Che classe quel cane incorniciato in divisa
          
Aristoritratti per aristocani; è l’Idea a quattro zampe di Daniela Ria. L’artista infatti crea ritratti – dimensioni 40 centimetri per 50 oppure 50 per 60 (con fornici fatte a mano, antichizzate e dorate). Il suo target è ovviamente quello dei proprietari che richiedono iI quadro dell’amato (ma, a volte, compianto) animale, quello che resta pur sempre il più fedele amico dell’uomo. Si tratta, in genere, di professionisti, dirigenti d’azienda, commercianti, ma non mancano le attrici, come Adriana Asti, che ha commissionato il ritratto del suo yorkshire femmina. Tinta unita, giochi di luce. tendaggi e drappi, biblioteche e testi antichi fanno dunque da contorno alla trasposizione ideale di aristocani dediti alla lettura, alla meditazione e anche alla gioia della pipa e del sigaro. «Nelle mie intenzioni c’è quella di regalare un quadro del suo aristocane a un’importantissima aristocratica milanese», ha svelato la pittrice tra una tela e l’altra. Ma i cani posano come vere top-model? «Ci manchebbe – risponde – » E’ sufficiente avere una loro foto. Le razze poi, sono le più diverse; si spazia dal cane grande, come il San Bernardo, al più piccolo. L’abito puà essere scelto nel periodo storico preferito: del Medioevo, dell’Ottocento, dei primi del Novecento, ma sempre d’epoca. E viene scelto in base al muso e allo sguardo, alla descrizione che ne fa il padrone. Un famoso giudice che seleziona i cani alle gare l’architetto Giuseppe Alessandra, ha acquistato un dipinto che ritraeva un mastino napoletano in abiti da signora dell’Ottocento e ha apprezzato molto le mie opere. Mi piacerebbe contattare Marina Ripa di Meana, animalista convinta e proprietaria di molti carlini». Perché dipingere dei cani? «L’abito li identifica, assumono, con esso, dignità e aristocrazia – riprende la pittrice – i quadri entrano, quindi, nel salotti, come veri padroni di casa e, talvolta, si sostituiscono a quelli del padroni». Party dedicati agli aristorani sono stati organizzati? «Non sono al corrente, ma può darsi», replica l’animal-painter. Ma lei ha un cane? «Si, ma di lui non ho fatto nessun ritratto, perché è impossibile fotografarlo e ritrarlo, non sta mai fermo. E’ la solita storia, come il calzolaio con le scarpe rotte». Progetti sugli aristocani? «Vorrei inviare un omaggio a Maurizio Costanzo e a sua moglie Maria De Filippl, dedicando i ritratti ai loro cani. Vorrei essere invitata al Maurizio Costanzo show e devolvere il ricavato, di eventuali vendite che scaturirranno, alla Lega per la protezione animali o ad altre associazioni del settore».
